Death and Delay

I apologize for the long silence. About a month ago my father-in-law died suddenly from a heart attack. We decided almost immediately to postpone our move because the original date was just 6 weeks away and that's too soon to take the grandkids across the globe. My mother-in-law will need to live with someone and we wanted to give her some time to make that decision...and we wanted her to know that living with us was still a possibility.

So where are we now? Still in limbo. My mother-in-law has not decided yet where she wants to live so we have made no plans. We have decided to keep all options open for as long as possible. It's been quite the emotional roller coaster on so many levels. All thoughts for the future begin with "if", but isn't that always the way it is? For a while life may unfold predictably, but is essentially unpredictable. Though we function under the illusion of stability all of our actions are still predicated upon an "if".

This past Saturday my husband's grandmother (his father's mother), Sue Buchanan, passed away unexpectedly. The picture below is of her with Henry in January. Tomorrow we head to Ohio to honor her and remember the joy of her life. After that we'll come back home and start to think about some of our "if"s.
